Dear Church Family,I am blessed to say that LLUMC has been my church home for over 20 years. Our journey to Lovers Lane began like many of you. My husband and I sought out membership after visiting several churches. We were looking for a church where we could raise our young sons and grow in our faith. What we found was a warm dynamic environment. A church with a heart for service….. with a heart for outreach…….with a burning desire to share God’s love with others. Lovers Lane has been a blessing to us. We have been blessed or encouraged by all that we see and in our fellowship with all of you. We have grown beyond our original expectation and we continue to grow.
I am pleased to service as the chair for the 2010 Stewardship Campaign. I certainly don’t profess to be a perfect steward; however I am learning to be trusting of God in making financial decisions. I have long understood the importance of giving. What I haven’t always thought much was giving my first fruits and trusting my Lord with my finances. Today I’m trying to trust Him to guide me in all aspects of my life. Some areas are easier for me to trust Him with than others. Sharing my financial blessing may be the most difficult for me. Some of you have a history similar to mine. Many of you have grown beyond the point that I have reached. We all are on a journey as we relate to our Lord.
The growth that our Church has experienced in recent times is very exciting. During 2009 we had twice as many member families participating in “First Day Disciple” giving as during 2008. We have initiated new ministry programs. Clearly we are responding to our Lord’s call of giving to his kingdom first and making his message available to all. Can we do better? Yes, of course we can. We have an opportunity to continue Boldly Sharing Our Blessings in 2010. Prayerfully consider increasing you participation of time, talents, gifts, & service. We are a great church that can greatly contribute to the furthering of God’s kingdom.
I am confident about the future of our Church. I am confident about our commitment to “love people into relationship with Jesus Christ.” God knows what he has in mind for Lovers Lane. Please join me as we continue Boldly Sharing Our Blessings and renew our affirmative response and partnership with Him.
Blessings,
Marsha Gordon
