Couples "R" Us welcomes all married or committed couples regardless of age or background. Most members are "empty nesters" born before 1950. The class is relatively small with 7 couples currently. Visitors are always encouraged.

The format is what could be called a discussion group or a study group. The class agrees on a book to study and then each Sunday takes on the next chapter or lesson, with the role of discussion leader being passed around. Discussion can get quite lively and the small size of the class gives everyone the chance to participate. Occasionally the routine is varied with a guest speaker.

The class is now discussing the best-selling book "The Purpose-Driven Life" by Rick Warren, using a study guide and video materials in addition to the book itself.

Some of the books we've studied in the past are "Living Buddha, Living Christ" by the Vietnamese monk and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Thich Nhat Hanh; "The End of Certainty and the Beginning of Faith" by Brian Austin; "Reading with Deeper Eyes: The Love of Literature and the Life of Faith" by William H. Willimon; and "Honoring Our Neighbor's Faith," a comparative study of various Christian and non-Christian denominations.

Couples "R" Us members place a premium on fellowship. Most Sundays the group will gather for lunch at one of the nearby restaurants after services. Social activities include get-togethers in members homes, occasional theater trips and an annual retreat to a different destination each spring.
