The Capital Campaign

Hearing the Call / Continuing a Legacy of Love is a all about seeking lives to be in personal relationship with Jesus Christ and serve in his love through the church. A guest speaker once told us that our congregation had the best name in Christendom: “Lovers Lane was named after a street, but should now understand itself to be named after the greatest lover the world has ever known - Jesus.” Since moving to Northwest Highway, our sign has proclaimed unconditionally “You are Welcome.” A congregation so committed to loving and welcoming in the name of our Lord must be a wide-open front door for all to enter and experience the love of Jesus Christ.

The Hospitality Center will clearly establish the primary entryway of Lovers Lane Church at the crossroads of activity where the Sanctuary, Shepard's Garden, Shipp Chapel and Asbury Hall converge. The Staff offices and conferences rooms will be located on the second floor of this center, locating our staff conveniently near our main entrance. The Hospitality Center will provide a warm and inviting gathering place and visitor's information area on Sundays and throughout the week. The Center will feature multiple sitting areas with easy access and spacious restrooms, cafe, bookstore, archive displays and the Wesley Prayer Chapel. In addition to creating a weather protected entrance and climate controlled passage to all of the buildings, the Center will house a beautiful gathering space named the Mary & John Watson Hall given in Mary’s honor and to John’s memory by Mrs. Nancy Dedman for receptions following worship, weddings, funerals, concerts and lectures.
Called to Inspire
Inspiring lives through dynamic worship in multiple at Lovers Lane is all about celebrating god's unconditional love that changes lives.
The Thomas Shipp Chapel will be one of the busiest sacred spaces on campus. With a targeted seating of over 300, this facility will provide us a much needed mid-size venue. On Sundays our 8:15 am tradition worship service will be in the Chapel, as well as our two African Fellowships at 9:30 am and 11:00 am. A new Sunday evening worship is also envisioned for this great room. The Chapel will feature a wonderful organ and will also have tastefully constructed high-tech audio and visual features to enhance the array of experiences in this setting. The worship facility, named after our beloved pastor for 31 years, will also be used extensively for weddings, funerals, concerts, dramas, lectures and meetings.
The Shepherd’s Garden, nestled serenely outside our three primary worship venues, will highlight the “care dynamic” of our church. Soothing water features and a least two memorial sculptures - our existing stone work of the Holy Family and a complimentary stone creation of The Good Shepherd and the Lamb - in a beautiful garden setting will provide an oasis for meditation, inspirational thought and communion with God. Initially there will be 500 columbarium niches for inurnments of cremains with the potential to grow this niche space.
The Sanctuary enhancements will improve the worship experience for everyone attending traditional services, providing a more intimate worship experience. Improved sight lines and visual technology with enhanced sound and lighting will help draw everyone more closely into the worship experience.
Wesley Chapel has been the site for literally thousands of weddings and funerals through the years. This sacred space will be reconfigured into a prayer center and can be used as a large meeting room.
