| The Lovers Lane United Methodist Foundation is a perpetual,
non-profit Texas corporation organized to serve the public interest, and operated
exclusively for charitable and religious purposes. The Foundation was incorporated
on January 2, 1980, and is classified by the Internal Revenue Service as tax-exempt
under Section 501©(3). |
| While its primary purpose was to create a permanent fund of
endowed resources for special programs and projects of Lovers Lane United Methodist
Church as well as for the repair, maintenance, renovation and expansion of Church
facilities, its unrestricted resources may also be made available, with Board
approval, to other organizations who provide charitable or religious education
activities. |
| On October 3, 1991, the Foundation’s Board of Directors
adopted the following mission statement: |
| The primary objectives of the Foundation are to develop financial
commitments separate from the annual operating fund and the other ongoing offerings,
such as the Love Offering, for the following purpose: |
- To help finance needed special programs and mission
projects which may not
be financed through the annual operating budget of the Church, and
- To create and sustain a
permanent fund for the repairs, maintenance, renovation and expansion of the Church’s facilities.
|
| Lovers Lane United Methodist Church is home to a diverse family
of believers. All ages and all walks of life gather here to share faith.. Each
member of our family is called to support this church through their prayers,
presence, gifts and service. |
| God gave us the command centuries ago to “know
well the condition” of our resources. This command is still applicable today. Not
only does God call us to keep account of our wealth, but through the example
of David and others, we are called to give to God’s work. David, in Chronicles
29:2, relates that, “So far as I was able, I have provided for the house
of God.” David’s example offers us a unique challenge to give according
to our ability. |
| Financial planning and giving are concepts which are biblically
based. God calls us to do four things: |
- Plan our finances: “For which of you, desiring to build a tower
does not first sit down and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete
it.” -- Luke 14:28
- Pay attention to the condition of our accumulated resources: “Know
well the condition of your flocks…for riches do not last forever…” --
Proverbs 27:23-24
- Establish and maintain a savings program: “And
let them gather all the food of these good years that are coming, and lay up
grain….and let them keep it.” -- Genesis
41:35
- Give freely as God prospers: “So far as I was able, I have provided
for the house of God.” -- 1 Chronicles 29:2
|
| To meet these biblical challenges, we have developed our planned
giving program. Prayerfully consider giving to the Foundation as a part of your
stewardship. Working together, we can be like the “man
building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation upon the rock; and when
a flood rose, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because
it had been well built.” |
