Some members may think our new faith-based stewardship campaign is risky. Some may say that without a signed commitment card, members will simply not feel an obligation to give money to support the church’s ministries and activities. I feel otherwise! |
I believe that this church’s greatness is due to a membership that deeply loves God. It is a membership that understands the scriptural reasons for giving back to God so that He, through us, can address the needs of the world. My prediction is that the campaign will exceed all expectations, because our giving will be heartfelt to a loving God and not just a rendering to a church budget. It is an exciting change, it is right, and it is the first step to becoming the radically generous church that Lovers Lane can be. |
My wife and I are certainly not rich by any monetary measure, but we enjoy concrete riches and comforts that three-fourths of the people in the world can barely comprehend. We readily accept that what we possess comes from God. We started our giving preparations for this bridge period by prayerfully setting aside ten percent of our expected yearly retirement income. We made that the basis for our charitable giving. The total will not go to the church, since we support other charities and non-profits, but the majority will. This is because we love this church and because we devote most of our energies and time in God’s service here. Capital contributions and over and above funding requirements, if they arise, will be treated as additional giving. |
To those who have not already made a personal commitment to God by turning in a nameless pledge card, please do so now. As a community of faith we have a great obligation to give to a loving God in thankfulness for the unconditional love He continually gives to us. He needs us to do this so that we can faithfully carry out His mission to the world. |
“…Every one to whom much is given, of him will much be required…” Luke 12:48 |
