Small Groups--what a great concept

A small group is indeed a place to connect with and build relationships with others. These groups are ongoing relational gatherings in which 8-12 people meet and learn how to care for one another while encouraging spiritual growth. They may be composed of couples, single adults, women only, men only, adults and children, or any combination of these. The discussion is open and free with emphasis on Biblical application to everyday life.

Small groups are about knowing and being known. They are about celebrating and being celebrated—sharing life’s key moments. Bill Hybels, Pastor of Willow Creek Community Church in South Barrington, Illinois makes this statement:

“In a moment of complete honesty, I think we would all love it if there were some people in our lives who trusted us enough to discuss the deep and tender parts of themselves. I think we would love to be able to unlock some of the vaulted feelings we carry to people who really cared. Most of us gravitate toward friendships, dating, marriage, gold leagues, racquetball clubs or a small group because somewhere floating around within us is a yearning to know and be known by others.”

Lovers Lane UMC believes in small groups like this. We call them quest groups. Contact Rev. Donna Whitehead at 214-706-9521 (dwhitehead@llumc.org) for more information. We have a small group that will be just right for you!
