North Dallas Shared Ministries
2875 Merrell Road Dallas, TX 75229 972-620-8696 Director: Judy Rorrie | North Dallas Shared Ministries is a cooperative effort of 45 North Dallas congregations that combine resources to provide appropriate help for people in need. The primary goal of NDSM is to help low-income persons assume responsibility (financial, behavioral, etc) for their lives to the degree they are able. |
| The work of NDSM is providing appropriate, effective emergency assistance, both tangible and intangible, to its clients and patients and accessing these persons to entitlement, health, and community programs designed to help them achieve stability for the long-term. |
| The work of the agency is carried out through the Emergency Aid Center, which provides food and financial assistance, employment assistance, ESL classes, and counseling and referrals; the Clothes Closet and Thrift Shop that provides free clothing to qualified persons; and the Free Medical Clinic for the Working Poor that two nights weekly offers immunizations, flu shots, well baby check-ups, and physicals, as well as treatment of acute episodic illnesses and dermatology and podiatry problems. The Clinic also holds a twice-monthly breast and pelvic exam-screening clinic for women and offers emergent dental care for low income adults twice a month. |
| NDSM is staffed by 500 volunteers and one paid administrative assistant. Its service area includes 20 zip codes in northwest Dallas. NDSM provides approximately $1.5 Million in assistance to approximately 48,000 persons annually. |
