| Dr. Tom Shipp, the first Pastor of Lovers Lane United Methodist Church had two callings in his life. The first was his calling as a Minister of God. To this calling he served Lovers Lane United Methodist Church for 33 years. His second calling was to the alcoholic. |
| He worked diligently to help alcoholics wherever and whenever he came in contact with them. This calling lasted throughout his time with Lovers Lane United Methodist Church. From Dr. Shipp's dedication to help the alcoholic, the Twelfth Step Ministry was eventually formed. |
